I like both simple and complex design, but in most cases they are separate to each other. A Spirograph Drawing Set inspires me that a simple element through regularly duplicate can also create complex beauty. So I want to take this as a start point to investigate how to use simple element to create complex but regular object.
BEAUTY OF
REGULARITY
SIMPLE COMPLEX AND REGULAR : As we all known the triangle is simplest stable structure, and the pyramid is the simplest 3D object which consist of three triangle. So can I use this simple element to make a complex but regular table?
The top surface of the pyramid can be the table top, the three arrises can act as the support structures.
Through the experiment, I found a the solution can be simpler, just use a single space curve, the table top can be supported.
As the figure showed above. A simpler solution.
Since one space curve is not strong enough, I duplicate another two of them to make the table more stable.
Make the structure more reasonable in a aesthetic way.
The result.
