THE LOST TRADITION
Aroma diffuser design
In the ancient China, incense inserting was always connected with a strong sense of ceremony. People light the incense after taking a shower and changing clothes, then meditate and pursue internal peace around the pleasant smell.
With the accelerating of modern life, people need inner peace more than ever, but such a ceremony is already rare to see. So I consider designing an aromatherapy humidifier to preserve the action of inserting burning incense, hoping that modern people also can find the inner peace as the ancient did through such a ritual action.
KEEP TRADITION THROUGH FORM
Design inspiration comes from traditional Chinese three leg incense burner and spiral rising smoke. The three-foot is a tribute to traditional craft and the helical curves make the device more modern and attractive.
KEEP TRADITION USING METHOD
Switch : When the essential oil stick is inserted, the machine starts to work. This is an inovative way to switch and retains the traditional action of incensing.
Essential oil stick : The two ends of essential oil sticks are covered with plastic films respectively. The upper film can be uncovered and release the smell.
Using : Inserting the essential oil stick into the humidifier. The lower plastic films will be punctured by the sharp internal structure, allowing the essential oil to fall into the sink.
